ABSTRACT

@#With the increasing popularity of dental implants, prevalence of peri-implantitishas also been increasing in recent years. However, a deeper understanding of the pathogenesis of peri-implantitis is still lacking. Animal models are a good bridge for studying the pathogenesis of clinical diseases. Animals such as mini-pigs, canines, non-human primates and rodents are used to construct animal models of peri-implantitis. Among them, rodents are easy to obtain and feed, and have a wide range of applications for research. In this review, we summarize the construction of rodent modelswithperi-implantitis as well as the research progress and applications.

ABSTRACT

Geriatric depression in the elderly is becoming one of the most common psychiatric disorders affecting older people's mental and physical health. However, there is currently no systematic review on animal models for geriatric depression. Therefore, this paper analyzes and summarizes the animal models commonly used in geriatric depression studies and the application of antidepressants in geriatric depression models based on relevant national and international literature of recent years, aiming to provide insights on research approaches and considerations on study methods for geriatric depression.

ABSTRACT

Genome-scale metabolic network model (GSMM) is an extremely important guiding tool in the targeted modification of industrial microbial strains, which helps researchers to quickly obtain industrial microbes with specific traits and has attracted increasing attention. Here we reviewe the development history of GSMM and summarized the construction method of GSMM. Furthermore, the development and application of GSMM in industrial microorganisms are elaborated by using four typical industrial microorganisms (Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Corynebacterium glutamicum, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae) as examples. In addition, prospects in the development trend of GSMM are proposed.

ABSTRACT

Zika virus (ZIKV) is closely related to severe neurological diseases such as neonatal microcephaly and GuillainBarre syndrome. As a new emergent infectious disease, the investigation on animal infection model of ZIKV has become a research hotspot. Establishment of animal infection models, an indispensable phase in drug and vaccine research and development, is of great significance to the study of viral pathogenesis and pathogen-host interaction. Based on the different diseases and adverse outcomes caused by the ZIKV infection, this paper reviews the current animal infection models of ZIKV and their applications in medical research, focusing on the lethal infection model, nervous system damage model and reproductive system damage model.
